Letters from Korea

As many of you know Scott, Kenzie and I lived in Korea once upon a time. The year was Sept of 1991 - Sept 1992. Scott was over there by himself until March when Kenzie and I joined him. We had been married for 4 years and Kenzie was 9 months old when Scott left. Well I have saved most of the letters we wrote to each other and letters that I wrote to my mom and she wrote to me while I was over there. They have been sitting in my closet for the past 16 years I have come across them over the years and keep thinking to myself that I really should put them in a binder in some kind of order, then I look at them for a minute and say "oh, someday I will do that but not today"!
Well someday happened and I have spent several hours organizing and reading most of the letters again, but I am happy to say 3 binders and 3 packages of sheet protectors later they are organized. It was real fun to go back and read the letters especially the ones that my mom and I exchanged. In some of them I was a brat demanding that she send me something now and then continue to ask her if she sent the item in letter after letter until I received the wanted item. In others we share a great connection and friendship that we didn't always share in person face to face. I am so glad that I have her hand written letters and when I read them I can recall the exact feelings that I had at the moment or remember things that I thought were lost.
There is also some great memories of when Kenzie was a baby and the funny things she said and did that as parents we swear that we will never forget, yet, if we fail to write them down they get forgotten. There are quite a few funny stories of Kenzie learning to talk and getting into things, and silly things like the way she laughed when she knew she was in trouble, things that have been long forgotten.
The letters that Scott and I exchanged are quite interesting. This was all before e-mail and the only communication we had for 6 months was with letters sent snail mail! In all my letters I keep telling him to "talk to me more" and in all of his letters he is apologizing for being such a bad writer, humm same issues we have today. In my letters I am telling him to send me more money and to quit charging things on the credit card because I am trying to get us out of debt, humm same issues today! Some things never change no matter how long one has been married!

My Blue Eyed Boy

Ryan is our 4th child and he really is quite the character. He was the cutest baby and so sweet we all fell in love with him instantly! Then he turned one and his new nick name besides "Boogie" was Dennis the Mennis! He was into everything I went from one room of the house to the other cleaning up after him, he was a one man wreaking machine! One day he opened all of the Jell-o and Pudding boxes about 20 in all, so for the next year I didn't know if I was making Jell-o or pudding. When he was almost 2 Scott was outside hanging up Christmas lights on the roof of our 2 story house and I went outside and there was Ryan at the top of the ladder looking for dad. When it was quiet I knew it was time to go look for Ryan because that usually meant trouble.
Now that Ryan is 10 he is one of my favorite kids! He has such a desire to help others and really wants to be friends to all that he meets. When he was in Kindergarten there was a little boy in a wheelchair. At the end of the year the mother of the boy in the wheelchair came up to me and wanted to tell me that everyday at recess Ryan made sure that her son was included in the activities, that Ryan would stay behind the crowd and make sure her son got to where he was going. I was surprised at first but then I have known all along that Ryan, although he has more energy than anyone I know, has a heart of gold and loves to help people. That is a trait that is hard to teach but comes so naturally for him.

I Found My Twin

I decided to go back to my natural hair color, I have been coloring it red but I think it was starting to look a little brassy, so I had it colored and it turned out a little darker than I had really wanted it to. When I came home Scott accused me of being a Joan Jette wanna be!
I think Joan is quite the hottie and if he wants to compare me to her I will take the compliment!! At least I still don't have the same wardrobe from the 80's!!

Bellingham

Some of you have wondered why we picked up everything and moved to Bellingham. I think the above photo speaks for itself. We live on the tip of the lake on the left side of the photo. It does not matter what the weather is like we always have the most spectacular view to enjoy out of our kitchen/breakfast nook windows and off of our deck. We are five minutes from the intra urban bike trails and walking distance to Whatcom Falls Park. It takes us 15 minutes to put our swimsuits on and have our boat in the water. We have loved living here there is so much beauty and outdoor activity that we rarely find ourselves bored.

Orlando Here We Come!

Kenzie and I are off to Orlando FL. for a cheer competition. We are looking forward to a fun week in the sun, hanging out with Mickey Mouse and the gang. My wonderful husband is going to be holding down the fort and pulling double duty around the house. He is so awesome, he is so supportive of the things that I do and get involved in. He is great with the kids, I think they look forward to mom leaving town when dad is in charge. I apologize in advance if you see my kids looking a little miss matched and the boys with messy hair. The girls are pretty good in helping out in that department, but sometimes they are not around to help. As long as they don't look like the picture posted out in public I will be happy!!
