Mother's Day Round One

On Mother's Day I had Ryan plan a hike and he bought and grilled stakes at the house. Kelsie had to work all day so we are celebrating Mother's Day again this coming Sunday with Kelsie, Kenzie and Ryan again. Yay me! Tia was very sweet she wanted to plan a Mother's Day dinner so she has Marco making Haitian food for this Sunday.
It was nice to get outside and enjoy the warm sunny day on Mother's Day, the girls and Marco were good sports to come along. Avrie is refusing to be in any sort of pictures right now so I had to capture a few candid moments with her.

Staying at Home

I have been working from home since the end of March because of Covid-19. I feel really grateful for the ability to do my job from home, to have the job I have and to be able to pay my bills. The girls have been doing school from home and for the most part things are going well. I am grateful that we were able to get Avrie going on the right track before all of this happened, she has been so much better, and getting better each day. Tia and I have been watching way too much Netfix in the evenings but this has been our little routine and time we spend together watching reality TV, talking about the characters and their lives. She told me the other day that we have to continue this even after life gets back to normal. This all happened just at the right time for her. She was struggling in school with friends, test anxiety and a few other things. About 2 weeks into staying at home she said to me, "Is it bad to say that the earthquake in Haiti saved my life and now I feel that this pandemic is saving my life once again. I am living my best life." Tia has established a pretty regular routine of getting up, after sleeping in, and exercising, doing school work, helping around the house, helping with dinner and always suggesting some kind of dessert making then watching our newest show. She has continued to work on schoolwork at her pace and she is feeling that anxiety go away. She is getting regular exercise and staying in shape and we are bonding and having some great conversations.
Avrie is finding a schedule and working on school and using her creative mind to play songs on the keyboard, write and taking care of herself.
Marco was able to go back to work last week and he is in school online full-time so he stays busy but manages to help me out and has spent countless hours with Tia helping her with her math and Spanish.
The weather is beautiful out today and I am just feeling grateful for the sunshine and blue skies and the beautiful place I live.
