Whistler Day 2

The next morning was all about Scott and Ryan, they had been looking forward to going to Whistler to down hill bike. They were up early and ready to go. We were out the door by 9:15 and at the bike rental shop to pick up the bikes they had rented.

They were dressed and ready to go!

We met up with them for lunch and then it was back on the mountain for them.

Ryan has no fear on a bike or skis but he was afraid of roller coasters until he was 13 years old.

Ryan managed to get 2 flat tires while riding, good thing he had a spare and has become quite the bike mechanic.

We did some shopping in the morning and then after lunch we went to the adventure zone, Avrie was so excited it was just right for her. We did the slide and then the girls did the bungee trampoline.

We must have walked the shopping area back and forth 10 times that day but we had a good time and then spent a little while watching for Scott and Ryan to come down the mountain. We finally drove out of the parking lot at 9 pm and made it home by midnight. It was a quick trip but we packed it in and had a good time.

Scott was pretty happy that he could mostly keep up with Ryan.
One last shot as we headed out there was a live concert going on but we were too tired to hang out for the whole thing.

Whistler Day 1

Trying to plan a mini vacation has been near impossible with everyone working and trying to find a time that would work. So I just went ahead and booked the only night left at our condo and we made it happen. It wasn't a long trip but it was a really fun trip. Scott and Ryan have been wanting to plan a trip to Whistler for quit a while and now that we can get the girls across the boarder it was the perfect time for that trip. It took a lot of prep work we had to make sure we had bikes for everyone. Kelsie needed a bike and Avrie is terrified  of riding her bike so we had to come up with a solution that would work for her, and we needed a way to haul 6+ bikes. Ryan set to work making sure all the bikes we had were in working condition with all the parts on the bikes like breaks. Ryan likes to steal parts so he did a good job of getting Jayden's bike and my bike working again. We borrowed a tag-a-long bike for Avrie, it was the perfect solution she didn't complain once and loved riding behind Scott most of the time, except after her ate something that did not agree with his stomach.  We borrowed a bike and an extra bike rack from some friends, who happened to be going to Whistler the same day and needed to borrow some of our bikes for the next day so it all worked out great. We don't have a vehicle big enough for our family right now so we took 2 cars a boy car and a girl car!

I was glad I was in the car not loaded down with bikes! We left early in the morning and pulling into the parking lot and unloaded the bikes we spotted a bear cub, I pulled my camera out as fast as I could but all I got was his butt! The kids tried to go find him but he went into the trees.

Ryan went up closer to the bear and got a pretty good shot!

We and made a quick ride to find bathrooms, eat lunch and then it was riding around the trails for the rest of the day. Avrie was the smart one and wore her swimsuit under her clothes and she went swimming in two of the four lakes we rode around and a water park.

It was a debate if Destina even needed to wear a helmet with all that hair as padding.

Everyone else rested while Avrie swam, it wasn't that we were tired from the bike ride but out butts were really feeling it after about an hour of riding and we were on those bikes for 5 hours.

Some people never grow up and they had fun seeing who could go the highest!

Destina was trying to fix her helmet hair, Ryan came along and helped her get all wet.

After the bike ride we made our way to the condo, hopped into the hot tub in time to watch a thunderstorm roll in and out, and then fixed dinner, watched a movie and we were all in bed by 10 pm.  That is by far one of my most favorite things to do. I love riding the trails around Whistler!

The Farmer's Market

Before Delanie left we made it to the farmer's market for a couple of hours. Avrie had 10 dollars she could not wait to spend and she knew exactly what she wanted. First stop was face painting and then the snow cone truck. Destina brings her money along but never spends a penny, she said she was not going to waste 3 dollars on some ice and flavored water, but Delanie wanted some and both Delanie and Avrie shared with Destina. I bough over priced peaches that were so good, and some of the best tomatoes and cucumbers that made a yummy salad. It is just a fun place to be on a Saturday afternoon.

She does look awfully cute with her face painted.

Avrie is the hula hoop queen she hardly moves but can keep that thing going forever and can even do it with her eyes closed.

The Best Blueberries Ever

I never liked blueberries until I moved here and was convinced to try them, they are so good. One of my favorite things about living in Bellingham is the berry picking, Strawberries in June, Raspberries in July and Blueberries in Aug. We drug the kids out on Aug 1st to get blueberries and I have been making cobbler and muffins and smoothies ever since.
Avrie was small enough to get in between the bushes and get the ripe ones in there.

I have yet to perfect the selfie, but picking blueberries is the best!
