Our Summer Vacation!

We took the week off to take our summer vacation with my sister and her family! Our first stop was the Great Wolf Lodge the 4 kids we brought had a great time swimming and hanging out with their cousins... the 3 kids we left home were a little bummed and one of those kids keeps making comments about how much fun she would have had too, but instead she had to stay home to help babysit!

Then it was off to Seattle and the Public Market on Pike Street that was the best 2 hours of the whole week, it was a beautiful day and everyone was there, it was so much fun keeping track of everyone in the crowds, trying to find food to please everyone, spending far too much on said food - why did Scott think he could spend 20 bucks on shrimp? And waiting in line for the public bathroom and listening to children whining about how much fun they were not having or maybe it was the husbands whining about when the torture would end can't remember which was more pleasant to the ears! But we checked that off the to do list for the summer!

Once we arrived home, because what better place to vacation than your own hometown, it was time to open presents for all the July birthdays and all the other birthdays too! We also had a sing-a-long, with very talented cousins that can actually sing and play the piano at the same time!

Katie doesn't go anywhere without the guitar it is like having an ipod playing the same 10 songs over and over and there is no off button! Or maybe it is like riding in an elevator....that never gets to the right floor! But really Katie we love your playing and your singing is ...lovely too! Keep playing!

This trio were best friends all week they played and played and had so much fun together, their were tears when goodbyes were said!

We hit as many parks we could during "our vacation" the weather was good most of the time we did have one cold morning but it warmed up!

The girls enjoyed the "spa" and their mud bath!

Playing tee toter on the drift wood is a must do when teenagers are involved!

And don't forget the sand cone, this girl could sit in the sand all day and play!

We went looking for starfish and everyone was afraid to pick one up finally Noah maned up and went for it I hope he collected the 5 bucks he was bribed with to actually pick up the star fish!

Our little mini vacation with the cousins was a lot of fun everyone had a friend and the teenagers stayed up too late every night and the adults had fun too, my sister made the comment "Scott is really just a teenage boy in a grown-up body looking for the next adventure" She nailed that one, the guys had fun golfing and biking! It was a great week and we can't wait to do it again next summer!! Now back to cleaning and laundry our next guests come in tomorrow, bring it on!

July is Flying By

This was by far my favorite thing....these two girls sleeping in the car after a long day of playing!

We celebrated 3 out of 4 July birthday's so far one more to go... yes they really did lick their plates clean after Katie's birthday pie!

Kelsie turned 14 and wanted an ice cream cake, we just had family birthday parties this year too much going on but we had a good time, nothing better than family!

Katie got braces for her birthday we are trying hard to discourage any boys in her life our evil plan is working! She wanted a chocolate pie for her 17th birthday and had been talking about it for a least a month. I think we all gained 5 lbs while my sister was here we were eating a lot of sweet things!

Attempting to take a picture of all the kids standing in ice cold water - we failed!

2nd try next to the ice cold water with kids that had been playing too long and were tired...failed again!

This was Avrie's best friend the whole week. I think it took her a couple of days to remember his name he just answered to "where is my best friend" all week!

Yep kissing cousins!

5 Minutes to Spare

I have been so busy that I have not had 5 minutes to spare...this summer is going by way to fast! Taking care of 11 people everyday for 4 weeks kept me on my toes! Then sister, her other 2 children and 2 grandchildren came to town and it was complete crazy fun madness for 5 days, I do have to admit that this day was my favorite day....an only adult girls day trip to Victoria BC. We had fun eating and shopping and just hanging out it was a really nice break from being all the cooking, cleaning, entertainment director and chauffeur jobs that I had been doing! It was a little windy over there but it didn't rain and the sun was out! I took my small camera with an even smaller memory card and I only had enough space to take about 6 pictures, when I got home I was complaining to Scott that I didn't have the right memory card in the camera and that I couldn't take enough pictures...Destina overheard me and she took the camera and came back a minute later and said "Mom look I made it so you can take more pictures!" She deleted all but this one picture she was so proud of herself for helping me out! Lucky for me my sister and nieces took pictures too. It was a busy week but it was so fun to have everyone here it went by too fast, and I miss Delanie and JT!

Deception Pass

We loaded up 2 cars and headed out to find some fun in the sun it was a little chilly but we had a good time hiking around Deception Pass.

I think Katie is color blind or maybe she was still sleeping when she picked out her outfit!

The kids had a great time throwing rocks into the water JT has a great arm maybe he should play baseball!

Who knows what Scott is doing, I think he was trying to build a rock tower!

Avrie and Machinshe as Avrie calls her, Avrie talks so cute, she likes to wash her "hams" after she uses the "bathroon" and today she wanted to put on her "swimsoup"! We totally play along! She was looking at our family picture and naming everyone and when she was done she circled her arms and said "my people" Yeah we are Avrie's people!

Happy 4th Of July!

Don't let the cute smiles fool you I think these too lay awake at night and plot out who's turn it is to torture their mother and what type of torture they will inflict on their mother! They have been taking turns driving me crazy and testing my patience, and it has only been 2 weeks of summer vacation so far!
Since it is cold and cloudy outside today on the 4th of July I thought I would post what we did yesterday while the sun was shinning, the sun has been hit and miss all summer and we are trying hard to take advantage of good days! With 9 kids in the house I NEED nice sunny days to get the kids out of the house!

We went down to Larrabee State Park and climbed on the rocks and the little girls did some swimming in the cold water. JT went off exploring with Ryan climbing even more rocks!

JT usually doesn't like to have his picture taken but when he is in the mood he is one photogenic guy, he also wanted me to take his picture while climbing the rocks!

Avrie had to be carried on the rocks and the star fish was a little scary to her even though it did not move!

Destina and Delanie were not quite brave enough to touch it!

The kids had a good time exploring but were more excited to go back to the play ground that was located by the parking lot!

I have to remember that the sun does come out, when I forget I will come back and remember this day! We will be BBQing in the cold tonight and watching fireworks in the cold hopefully the rain will not make an appearance!
